Torres do Oeste

Originally part of a larger castle, the Torres do Oeste were built to defend against Viking attacks. Over the following centuries, bishops such as Diego Gelmírez fortified the structure, which provided control over the the Ría de Arousa estuary and the Ulla river, offering protection to Padrón and Santiago de Compostela.
